Darren’s passion for martial arts and health began in childhood. At just 10 years old, he started training in judo and quickly became a regular competitor. By age 11, he was already making his mark, winning a silver medal at the IBF European Championship in Belgium. At 17, Darren transitioned to boxing, where he fought for the last time in 2014. Shortly after stepping away from boxing, his curiosity led him to try his first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class—a moment that sparked a lifelong love for the art.
Now a Roger Gracie Academy black belt, Darren has built an impressive competitive resume. He has achieved multiple English Championship titles (2016, 2017, 2018), became NAGA UK Champion in 2018, and earned British No-Gi Champion titles in the ‘Advanced’ division in both 2018 and 2021. With countless gold medals at every belt level in both Gi and No-Gi, Darren’s dedication and skill speak for themselves.
His striking and grappling background made MMA a natural progression. After a few years of training, Darren was offered a position as an MMA coach at his old gym, where he honed his skills in coaching and cornering fighters. Over time, however, Jiu Jitsu became his primary focus, leaving little room for other disciplines except those that enhanced his BJJ performance.
Today, Darren remains an active competitor in both Gi and No-Gi, leading by example and inspiring his students through his commitment and passion. A strong advocate for the BJJ lifestyle, Darren is also working towards his Level 3 Yoga for BJJ Instructor certification, continuing to deepen his expertise and connection to the art he loves. Coaching both Adults and Juniors is one of Darren’s greatest passions, and he is dedicated to helping others grow and thrive on their own BJJ journeys.
